Didn't stay there but passed through the town in 2022. Met Willy the permanent resident who is hung like a horse. Hang on a minute. He is a horse!! Plz note that it is best advised to bring a carrot or Apple as Willy won't let u in the pub door unless u give him one!Awesome ghost town and piece of typical Aussie outback.

The Hotel is still trading but doesn't open until midday, so missed seeing inside. It's only a few kilometres down the road from Niagara Dam in the Northern Goldfields of WA.

A must visit. Full of history. Margaret is a gem. We have been in the area for a month and often pop in for an ice cold beer and a chat. Check out the book Margaret wrote about Kookynie on the bar. Will miss her when we leave. Remember to take a carrot for Willy

What a wonderful experience to visit the hotel & have some refreshments. Dear Margaret was a wonderful host as well as the concierge “Willy” the resident horse. The history of the area & the building remains in the town are a stark reminder of times gone by. A visit is highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Willy the horse dropped by to trya beer but the owner closed the door in his face. Had an interstate visitor great experience.

Had to see. The pub is packed with memorabilia, lovely publican and of course…..a horse. You may have to negotiate with the horse to get in the door. Accommodation still available at the pub. The town is worth a walk/drive around. Relics of the past around the streets.

What more can you ask? Cold beer and a horse at the bar? Margaret and Kevin weren't serving meals this week nor are they doing camping, but with that said there were amazing chats had and good recommendations given!If you're passing through this is a must stop!

Well worth a visit. Horse now older and grumpier. May not be around. Publican lovely and hard working. Accommodations clean. Book before arriving if wish to stay. Plenty of Pioneer and close by sites to see. Note: add Lake Ballard into a day trip.
